METALLIC INK
A single recipe was found on the creation of metallic ink seen in 2 treatises: Resāle dar Bayān-e Ḵaṭ va Morakkab va Kaḡaḏ va Sāḵtan-e Ranghā by Anonymous (15th C), and Golestān-e Honar by Qāżi Aḥmad Qomi (16th C):
قلعی بگیرد و سیماب، هر یکی را در برابر یکدیگر، و قلعی را بگذاد و سیماب بر وی ریزد و صلایه کند. چنان که نرم شود و آب صمغ عربی در وی ریزد و کتابت کند و بر پشت مهره زند
‘Find quicksilver (mercury) (Simāb) and tin (Qal‘), in equal portions. Pour quicksilver on tin and bray well. Once softened, add liquid gum Arabic to the metal mixture and bray. Now write with it and rub it on the back of seals.’ from the treatise Resāle-ye Buqalamun by Bahmani (15th C):
